Kazan has flourished in recent years: it is pleasant to walk here, taste national dishes and admire the architecture. This is a great option for a mini-trip, so every couple of years we consistently travel to Kazan. Find out how much a solo trip for a few days costs. We share personal experience, photos, useful tips and talk about prices in 2021.

How to get to Kazan

From most cities it is easier to fly to by plane, and cheapest of all - from Moscow. On Aviasales, they cost from 1,200 rubles in both directions in the low season (yes, so little, this is not a typo!) And from 4,800 rubles in the summer. It is only slightly more expensive to fly from Ufa. There are promotions and sales - then tickets are even cheaper.

From some cities it is more convenient to go to train - for example, from Perm and Yekaterinburg. Convenient because the train is overnight and you save the night at the hotel. We traveled that way - from Perm a ticket to a reserved seat carriage costs 800-1300 rubles. We buy train tickets on Tutu.

A trip to Kazan from nearby large cities is more profitable for buses - from Ufa, Nizhny Novgorod, Ulyanovsk. Tickets cost about 1000 rubles. There are also bus tours with excursions around Kazan and a visit to the Riviera water park.

However, the most convenient option is to come to your car... The last time we visited Kazan was by car. Of the advantages - independence and the opportunity to see the sights in the vicinity yourself. Only heavy traffic and terrible driving style of local residents spoil the pleasure.

Food prices in Kazan in 2021

What to try. During an independent trip to Kazan, it is a sin not to try the Tatar cuisine. We are even considering going to Kazan with a gastronomic tour. There are unforgettable pastries: belyashi, echpochmaki and kystyby. And what can we say about delicacies - honey chak-chak, talkysh-kaleva and gubadie!

Canteens. Food prices in Kazan are not too high. Some establishments are so cheap that you can't even believe. One of these is "Kind Canteen", where you can have a hearty meal for 100-150 rubles per person. Solyanka - 50 rubles, meat cutlet - 30 rubles, mashed potatoes - 25 rubles. What can I say, go to their website and be surprised yourself. Write down the address: st. Bauman, 21, 2nd floor. Opening hours: from 7:30 to 21:00.

Cafe. In a cafe, the average check is usually 400-500 rubles. Soups cost 150-280 rubles, second courses - from 200 rubles. From inexpensive cafes we recommend "House of Tea" on Baumana, 64. There the average bill is about 200 rubles per person. Try their gubadia - we really liked it.

Restaurants. In restaurants, the average check is 1000-1500 rubles. Piti and khash - 310 and 350 rubles, pilaf 360-410 rubles, kutab - 110-130, manti - 350-390, fried tenderloin - 600 rubles, sturgeon - 800, shah-pilaf with lamb for 4 people - 3000 rubles. Good restaurant "Uryuk".

Prices for hotels in Kazan in 2021

Where is it profitable to book accommodation:

  • Hotelluk - compares hotel prices, looking for discounts.
  • Airbnb and Daily - a huge selection of rooms, apartments, houses from the owners. It turns out more convenient and often cheaper than a hotel.

In what area to live. If you are planning a cultural vacation in Kazan, choose the Vakhitovsky district - all the main attractions are concentrated there. Most of the offers of hotels and apartments are here. We lived in the Vakhitovsky district, in a wonderful designer loft apartment. Bauman is just a 15-minute walk away.

Novo-Savinovskiy district is located next to Vakhitovskiy district, from there it is also relatively close to the center. There are many housing offers. There is a water park "Riviera" and "Kazan-Arena".

Moskovsky district is suitable for those who come to Kazan with children on vacation - there is an amusement park "Kyrlay" and Uritsky park with playgrounds and sports grounds.

Transport prices

You need and can walk a lot in Kazan! For a day of active walks around the city, we wind up 20-25 km, and then in the evening, tired, we are already going home by taxi. We order a taxi in the Yandex.Taxi application, it comes out about 100-120 rubles. With such low fares, it makes little sense to use the metro and buses.

The fare for the metro is 30 rubles, and for children under 8 years old - free. Tokens are sold at cash desks and vending machines, but you can pay with a contactless card or smartphone with NFC, simply by touching the turnstile. There are transport cards for 1 month, which cost 27 rubles, but they are not needed for a tourist. Metro opening hours are from 6:00 to 24:00. At the entrance to the station, bags are checked.

A bus, tram and trolleybus ticket also costs 30 rubles, you can buy it from the driver in cash. To find the required transport, we use the Yandex.Maps and 2gis applications.

It is best to allocate at least 2-3 days for a trip to Kazan, because there are really a lot of interesting places here. The city center is cozy and clean, it's nice to just walk around it. It is really possible to see the main sights of Kazan in a day:

  • Kazan Kremlin with Kul-Sharif mosque, Syuyumbike tower, cathedral and museum.
  • Kremlin embankment and Kremlin street.

Download it if you need to have all the marks and descriptions of Kazan sights at hand, but there is no time and desire to manually copy this information. This convenience will cost you 200 ₽.

There are also many interesting things outside the city. Rent a car (from 1000 ₽ per day on Rentalcars.com) and drive to the island town of Sviyazhsk, to the Raifsky Mother of God Monastery and the Temple of All Religions. We went there in our car. You can also go to these places with a guided tour.
